Two Weddings in One Day

I’m not a huge advocate of taking two weddings in one day. However, during COVID I wanted to make our team available to any client who needed a planner or designer. It was a massive undertaking: 240 guests at each location, 2 venue relocations, 6 or 7 floor plan revisions, 2-flips of the event space from ceremony to reception, multiple rental teams, complex production and logistics, and over 8 load-ins per venue. The amount of coordination was insane, and the chances of risk were high, but both teams executed flawlessly. Read what it takes below!

Modern Manhattan

Our client Brynn works at Bergdorf Goodman, has impeccable taste, and has a massive friend group! Having gone to many weddings herself, her mother Melissa hired LLG Events seeking something chic and different for her daughter. Our first meeting was at their country club, their original wedding venue, and I knew we had to move the wedding. The venue sets the tone for the event, it sets the mood and the ambiance and facilitates the event design. When I saw the tightness of the club, the weathered tent, the exposed brick, I knew this was not Brynn.

As we began the design process, Brynn’s style really started to come out. I knew she loved mirror and marble, mixed metals; and I knew she had a classic and elegant style based on her style quiz responses. Melissa’s biggest concern was to ensure we did not over-design the wedding, that things made sense, and that it flowed beautifully from space to space. I made sure to take copious notes of every design, decision, and detail to ensure flawless communication between all our event design and production vendors.

Once we moved the venue to Cipriani Wall Street, we began using inspiration from our venue, such as the columns within its architecture as well as taking into account the height of the ceilings. I knew I wanted a tiered design, where there were tiers of flowers and candles that gradually increased in height like a skyscraper. I initially pictured a round centerpiece, however, Tantawan Bloom’s team recommended a square one, and it was perfect. We developed the centerpieces on mirror bases, used acrylic poles to stabilize the centerpiece, and then added bud vases of dahlias, roses, and ranunculus to add a touch of softness to a modern design.

We created a double-sided floral wall to use throughout the grand entrance and the head table. I emphasized throughout our design meetings that I wanted the two walls to be different in design. The entryway needed to showcase flower clouds and raining flowers with tons of candlelight along with a mirror escort card table. The floral wall behind the couple needed to be uniform in design, with the same consistency of florals throughout. We wanted this pure green & white floral wall to be the backdrop behind all the head table photos.

On the day of the wedding, our vendor team loaded in at 6:00am for a room ready at 5:00pm for pictures. We had stagehands start on the band stage and the floral team start on the ceremony stage. Florals began setting up at 8:00am, as we had to be ready before 1:00pm for when our lighting engineers would arrive to do pin-spotting. We rented mirror tables, two different types of chargers, and a smokey glass with gold rim water goblet to complete the table setting as well as linens for the round tables. We also included 2 mirror bars with silver back bars to tie in the whole look. Our favorite part - the shimmery drape behind the band! Don’t forget about band decor, it’s so important and completes the 360-degree look.
