Top U.S. hotels for your wedding
In an exclusive to TOP HOTEL NEWS, LLG Agency CEO Lauren Grech lists her top 5 hotels in the U.S. in which to organize your 2020 wedding.
Summer’s officially over—and with that, goes the wedding season too. Last year, over 2 million weddings took place in the U.S., with most of them occurring between May and October. Now we enter engagement season, followed by the height of wedding planning for newly engaged couples.
Where do couples always want to start their planning process? The venue.
As such, we got ahead of these couples and gathered the top 5 hotels in the U.S. to host a wedding:
Faena Hotel, Miami Beach, Florida
Faena Miami Beach has been reopened since 2015, but within the wedding community, it’s still very new. Located in the heart of Miami’s South Beach, this 5-star hotel is just now stealing the hearts of many wedding industry professionals—and couples alike.
Luxury New York City photographer, Susan Shek of Susan Shek Photography, recently stayed at this exclusive resort and said it was one of the best experiences she’s ever had. “The suites were massive, thoughtfully decorated, and the food was phenomenal.”
The theme of Faena is playfully incorporated into the beachside umbrellas; poolside lounges; part of the architecture in the Rooftop Terrace, one of their many event spaces and design options; and seen throughout the entire property.
Although I have not seen Faena’s Event Team in action myself, the rave reviews throughout the industry, the colorful furnishing, and the art installations throughout the property can attract cultural enthusiasts and art lovers alike for a unique and vibrant destination wedding experience. Along with having beachside access for up to 200 wedding guests, this is the perfect place to host your dream wedding ceremony in 2020.
Pelican Hill, Newport Beach, California
I recently had the pleasure of working at The Resort at Pelican Hill, and I can personally attest that this is one of the top places to host a wedding in the United States. The property’s attention to detail, level of customer service, quality of food service, and the accessibility of their planning staff throughout the wedding planning process made this one of my top choices from a professional perspective.
From a couple’s perspective, Pelican Hill provides multiple locations to host your wedding celebrations. For example, their secluded rotunda area creates the perfect spot to host your ceremony and cocktail hour. You can enjoy the gorgeous views as the sun is setting, which creates a naturally stunning backdrop for photographs. Picture golden hues filling the sky over the glowing Pacific Ocean, and that’s exactly what you get with zero obstruction to your views.
From there, you can choose to host your reception outdoors along the patio area, continuing to enjoy the sunset, or you can go upstairs to the Mar Vista Ballroom. The space is neutral-colored and the layout is versatile, so you can do a lot with it. Plus, the fireplaces offer a uniqueness to the design for an intimate, cozy feel—perfect for an after-party.
“To ensure our couples have the exceptional experience they desire, Pelican Hill only celebrates one wedding per day at our magnificent Mar Vista venue. In addition to exclusivity, your Pelican Hill wedding also offers a few more options not typically found at alternative venues, including a complimentary bungalow accommodation for the couple on the wedding night, a getting-ready suite with a full salon station, and a dedicated Wedding Butler and Wedding Concierge,” says Devon O’Connell of Pelican Hill.
Amangiri, Canyon Point, Utah
I only have four words for this Aman property: Amangiri looks absolutely incredible.
A good reason to believe this pick, is that Amangiri also attracts celebrities. The popular DJ, Tiesto, recently hosted his wedding there, with fellow luxury wedding planner Colin Cowie creating an elaborate, gorgeous celebration! Singer and songwriter Miley Cyrus was also recently spotted at the resort with her mom and sister.
Furthermore, we recently had the pleasure of speaking with Casey Wagner, Aman’s Regional Director of Sales, who is extremely interested in continuing to expand the brand’s wedding strategy and to be internationally-recognized by the wedding community. Having attended Engage! Luxury Wedding Business Summit this year, Casey’s been strategizing were to expand their media and marketing for Aman weddings. By investing in industry networking, you can ensure that they will provide the utmost quality and service.
Tiesto’s recent wedding, as well as the lavish Indian wedding celebration at Amanzoe in Greece, show that Aman Resorts are at the forefront of luxury destination weddings and will likely persist upon this momentum in 2020.
The Breakers, Palm Beach, Florida
Classic, timeless, and consistent are the key adjectives to use when describing the acclaimed Italian Renaissance-style hotel that is The Breakers.
With multiple event spaces throughout the property, beachfront access, a 5-star dining experience, and an exclusive vendor list that takes years to get on, The Breakers knows luxury weddings, and can maintain luxury weddings. Their wedding strategy has enhanced year after year, with their weddings only getting bigger (they can accommodate guest counts of 500!) and more elaborate.
Couples can opt for a courtyard garden party, fill a band in their storied ballrooms, or go simplistic with the nearby ocean as their backdrop.
If you’re looking for a hotel with a solid reputation, impeccable customer service, and a curated list of vendor professionals to work with, The Breakers is the perfect choice.
Montage Palmetto Bluff, Bluffton, South Carolina
It is widely known that celebrities set the trends. First, it was the aforementioned mirrored arch from Tiesto’s wedding taking over Pinterest. And even more recent, was the eagerly-awaited celebrity wedding of Hailey Baldwin and Justin Bieber at Montage Palmetto Bluff.
A gated, luxury property located within a lush, 20,000-acre nature preserve, Montage Palmetto Bluff charms those who want a relaxing, secluded celebration.
A resort so large obviously offers multiple event spaces, such as two on-site chapels to choose from, a sun-splashed veranda, or the open cobblestone streets with gas lamps and pealing bells. The one we’d choose? Their antique yacht, GRACE, for a sunset ceremony while cruising down the May River.
Couples can also choose from eight signature dining experiences, each prepared fresh from local farmers and watermen who construct seasonally-inspired menus for a taste of Southern comfort. Additionally, there is the option for multiple accommodations, from residential-style homes to charming guest cottages; making this the perfect choice for couples who want to entertain all the possibilities on their wedding day.
