How to Throw a Dolce & Gabbana Themed Party

Dolce-And-Gabbana-Themed-Party

One of the best things about the events industry is the people you meet. We not only get to work with the best of the best, but we get to become friends with them. My good friend Sonal, Founder & CEO of SJS Events, trusted the LLG Team to execute her Dolce & Gabbana-themed birthday party, and it made us all eager for more nights like this!

Transport Your Guests With Invitations

We started with Dolce & Gabbana visions of lemons, yellow, and blue to transport guests to Italy. The invitation is always the first piece to set the tone for the party.

Include a note about expected attire, which, of course, was Dolce. The invitation is also a great place to hint at the décor for the night, so we included lemons and the lovely Italian porcelain patterns.

We kept it light-hearted by inviting guests to “come out of hiding” to celebrate Sonal’s birthday. It was a cute way to hint at the hopefulness we all have about returning to normal, while at the same time setting the tone to be conscious of restrictions. The back of the invitation went into more detail on how we were screening everyone for COVID prior to the event. This is an important piece to keep in mind, and we suggest always including a positive tone!

Follow Through With Design

Now that the invitation has built up anticipation, the design has to follow through on the promise. From florals to greeting stations, we made sure guests felt they were weekending in Italy (with a NYC view, thanks to Jordan Kahn Orchestra).

Our florals were minimal and our lemons maximal. The yellow highlights made the room pop without overcrowding the space. The yellow was complimented with blue and white tablecloths, porcelain vases, and the perfect blue glasses for drinks!

One of our favorite elements was the welcome station! The first interaction with guests as they walk into the space should transform them. We had a table set with Dolce & Gabbana masks for guests to wear as well as Dolce & Gabbana perfume to truly encompass all their senses. Another favorite was the show-stopper cake, which tied together all elements of the theme beautifully to honor Sonal!

The Little Things Make a Huge Impression

We can talk forever about the main design elements, but we’ve gotten the most rave reviews on a small aspect of the entire night: the ice cubes! If you don’t have branded ice cubes, are you really living life to the fullest? For an occasion such as Sonal’s birthday, we had to showcase her style and personality in even the smallest details. The branded “SJS” ice cubes were a little touch that left guests with the true WOW factor.

If We Can’t Be in Italy, We Might As Well Be at a Penthouse

A spot curated specifically for photo opportunities is crucial to share and remember the event. Sometimes, it’s better to let a venue speak for itself, which is exactly what we abided by for Sonal. Jordan Kahn so kindly hosted Sonal’s birthday party at his NYC Penthouse, and the views were unbeatable, making for the perfect backdrop. The terrace not only allowed for us to create a cozy fire pit lounge, but the unobstructed view of the city was naturally THE photo op spot.

Don’t forget to Have a GOod Time

Details aside, don’t forget to have a good time! Now more than ever, when people come to party, they come to party! Make sure your DJ or performers are as pumped as you are for the night. The dance floor is a major part of what guests will remember for the night, so don’t be afraid to jump in and get it started—you may never leave! Shoutout to Jordan Kahn Orchestra for not only the venue but for some special performances, as well as DJ Brian B and DJ Raj for keeping the beat of the night!
