Outdoor Party Inspiration

How-To-Host-A-6000-Outdoor-Event

Wow, it feels so good to be back! We had our first intimate outdoor event last weekend, and it felt great to get out there and execute an event.

We absolutely loved designing for this client - it was a special 40th birthday celebration set in a private home. The client is a sophisticated Brooklyn resident who loves hydrangeas, candles, and neutral color tones. Since this outdoor birthday party was a complete surprise, we had to draw inspiration from elements they love.

Part of the LLG design process incorporates gathering as much digital event inspiration as possible. You can see how the design progresses by checking out our inspiration pics on our Pinterest board.

We chose to incorporate white and blue hydrangeas throughout the entire look to create a classic, Southampton, Montauk vibe. In order to enforce a cohesive look, we used miniature blue and white vases and beautiful china urns to hold the hydrangea and white roses. In order for us to have a different, yet impactful 2nd look for dinner, we kept the blue and white hydrangea but added 3 tiers of candle clusters along the center of the table. As the sun set, the candles illuminated the entire table and created an insanely gorgeous backdrop.

Budget Breakdown:

Okay, so now for the facts - how were we able to host this outdoor event for 15 people for less than $6,000.00?? Check out how we spent the budget below:

Florals - $500.00, including candle clusters for 2nd dinner look.

Catering - Takes up the bulk of the budget. We hired Marcia Selden Catering, who got creative during this pandemic and developed individualized, personalized catering boxes and were willing to deliver anywhere! Since the family is environmentally-conscious, Marcia Selden brought bamboo plates and flatware for the event. Total cost: $4,000.00. Did we mention what this included? We had 4 meals planned for the entire day, including breakfast parfaits, greek salads, veggie wraps for lunch and sushi, chicken and steak for dinner!

Rentals - We rented 3 long rectangular tables and linens from Smith Party Rentals for an approximate cost of $1,000.00 including delivery. We purchased the ceramic plates, bowls, chargers, napkin rings from Crate and Barrel for a total cost of $300.00.

40th Birthday Party Cost for 15 guests: $5,800.00.
